I’m not doing very well at blogging at the moment. So much is happening and I can’t decide what to blog about. I’ve actually started a blogging list. A little sad I know. I was going to write about my little Aussi win in my last post but decided it needed its own post.
Courtesy of the lovely Christina Sanders at A sense sublime blog I won an Aussi gift package. The only thing is i’m back at uni so it got delivered to my neighbours before my Mum could pick it up. She’s coming up in a few weeks s she’ll bring it then.
Thank you very much!! xx
Oooooo it’s been a busy bank holiday weekend. I didn’t say yes to any extra hours so i’ve had plenty of time off. It was my Dad’s wedding this Saturday, died my hair brown on the Sunday and Newlyn fish festival on the Monday. So it’s not surprising it’s only today i’ve had time to get round to blogging.
A bit of a different back drop than from my usual photos and I apologise from the discarded shoe in the foreground. I was so happy with my hair but by the end of the night, it was starting to look a bit minnie mousy but I still loved it. I crashed out on the bed without taking it out and managed to wear it to work the next day, well with a bit of damage control anyway.
At work on Sunday I realised I do not want to be blonde any more. it’s not that it’s too much hard work, I don’t mind that it’s just that my hair is so damaged because of all the constant bleaching so I’ve decided to go brunette. I’ve been blond for two years now and i’m a bit tired of it. My flatmate (even though he isn’t any more, I will always call him that) says he will pin me down and pour absolute platinum over my head. I’m ok with it though. I didn’t expect it to work quite so well. I bought golden brown. I was told if you dye blonde hair straight to brown it will have a green tinge. After experiencing a green tinge at the beginning of the summer after Tenereife I wanted to avoid it. I’m very happy with it. In the light, it has a golden/ reddish hue/tone but I like that. Hopefully I can just let it grow now without worrying about it.
I went on the life boat for the first time in my life. Or that I can remember. There are loads of stalls, one of which was selling henna. After getting henna tattoos at festivals and deciding I cannot have a real tattoo as i’m scared of needles…i’ve become addicted to henna. I have like 7 on me now.
How was everyone elses bank holiday? hope you all had a restful fun time? What did you think of my hair and the dress. Was I right to go brunette?? xx
The new benefit mascara, they’re real! is soon to be available to buy in the UK. I’m a really big fan of the bad gal range. I love the eyeliner more than anything.
the whole benefit range is absolutely fantastic but I’m going to focus on the new mascara as apose to rabbiting on about all their other fantastic products.
The packaging and presentation of the product is just as cute as all the other Benefit products.
But what so the stats say? well… straight from the benefit website…
- 94% saw dramatic length & volume
- 90% saw base-to-tip curl
- 94% saw visible lift
- 100% saw long-wearing results
I treated myself to maxfactor collosol volume not long ago and I have to say I wasn’t that impressed to I might just have to treat myself to this!!
This mascara is not yet available in the UK yet but you can email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out when it will be!! xx
Hands up who went to the vintage fair on south bank. Hands up who wanted to go to the vintage fair on south bank. That one’s me! I reallllly wanted to go but I had 15 hours to work at M&S this weekend. Earning over £100 does help lessen the sting of not going to the event that I was born to attend.
I will write a post about it soon. Posts have been few and far between lately because i’ve been working lots. I spent the first half of the summer not doing anything and now i’m flat out.
Lots of exciting things. My house at uni is ready to move into. Some of my stuff is there but i’ve not gone yet. I got a text off one of my friends saying how she was weeding the garden/ back yard but I will call it a garden and I intend to buy plants for it that no doubt will shrivel and die in the bitter prestonian winter.
So to cheer myself up and forget that I still have over a month till I can move in, I did treat myself to a new hair product and my sister was home from London for the weekend to celebrate my Mum’s birthday.
Last year on my 18th birthday I went to my hair dressers and as a finishing touch he sprinkled dust it by osis on my hair. The effect was that I managed to back comb it into a beehive much easier. He put the product on in the morning and I styled my hair around 7pm and it stayed put all night.
I’ve always made to buy it online and it’s currently on my amazon wish list but through time and being too mean i’ve never got round to buying it myself.
So i’ve kept an eye out in boots etc to see if I could ever find a product that would work or was simular and to my great delight, after over a year there is one on the market. Vo5 give me texture instant oomph powder. in its shocking pink packaging its pretty good.
it says on the packaging that the bottle has extra headroom so you can shake it up beofre use. I initially thought this was a fancy way of explaining why they didnt fill the product to the top but actually its because when you shake it the amount in the bottle increases.
I wouldn’t say it was as good as dust it but for a poor student it’s pretty good.
Top:borrowed off Mum
Skirt: £10 matalan
shoes: cast offs of my sister
lips :lip venom by duwop
My hair looks a little flat there but it did have a lot of volume last night!! I’m really liking wear a pencil skirt at the moment. This one was only a cheepy from Matalan so when pay day comes next week I might treat myself to a new one.
What has everyone else done this weekend? Did you go to south bank? xx

I am so happy to be writing this post. Everyone’s favourite decade including mine, is back!! Dig out the hair spray and the bumpits, don’t forget the smoky eyes, nude lips and shift dresses!!
My flat mate has this lip stain by Duwop and it is part of a Twilight series. it’s this really deep red claiming its the closest thing to a vampire. Not being a Twilight fan I kind of skipped this bit.
Anyway, the lip stain is amazing and I love the contrast of the deep red with my platinum hair. One application and it lasts practically all night.
It is quite expensive though. You can buy it on amazon for £15 so I made do with one from Topshop which is quite good but used my flatmate’s when I could.
Anyway, so i was in Fenwicks in London on Saturday finding shoes for my Dad’s wedding and I saw it in the bargain bin for £3.50 so I bought two- one for me and one for my flat mate to replace the one I used so much of.
My bargain of the decade!
Bourjois healthy mix foundation
I went shopping with my grandma yesterday and I really needed a new foundation. I’ve been twisting and stamping on the one I have at the moment and I finally bit the bullet and bought a new one.
It’s hard when you know a decent one is going to cost around £10 and you just don’t want to spend that. Now i’m at home for the summer and don’t need to think about buying food etc I thought I would treat myself.
I’ve only ever used a tinted moisturizer because I don’t need much else but I’ve been using No7 tinted moisturizer for a few years now and as my skin has changed a bit, I decided my foundation should too.
I settled on Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation , number 52, vanilla. Bourjois being made by Chanel it seemed a good bet.
The colour is a little bit warmer than what I thought I would go for but I didn’t want to be washed out.
It goes on pretty easily and t feels really nice almost like a primer as well. It feels really smooth.
It’s quite light which is all I need really so if you’re looking for something heavier this is not it.
