Well, what do you know!! My bloggers block seems to have disappeared!! So pouring your soul into a post does have positive results. I feel much more like myself again. Another thing I wish to share with you all before I go back to clothes and stuff is that I have booked myself in at the university counselling. I wasn’t sure whether or not I needed/wanted to but I think it’s best as I don’t want to go back to the way I was.
The way I was actually ties in with this post. This post is really for my Mum for many reasons. When she dropped me off in Preston we went to M&S to have a final divulge of my discount card and she said I could choose any hat I wanted.
I debated over the bowler and she said well you’d have to feel supa-dupa to wear it and I’m wearing it today!! I’m also wearing shorts with my dress which is for my Mum as the last thing she said to me was watch the length of your skirts with your tights and stuff. So this outfit is for you!
I apologise for the mess and the girlie bits in the background, I’m still sorting out my tip of a bedroom but I’m pleased I can take photos, I wasn’t sure how I would manage it but I managed to find an affective way.
I love this satchel, I didn’t bring it home over the summer…so sad 😦 I added a long chain Topshop locket to the look. No bangles today because bangles and writing don’t mix well 😦
So, after laughing at all the first years for being in their carefully selected outfits which took them days to choose, I haven’t been much better with the exception that I did cobble this outfit together within 10 minutes although blogging about it and taking effort doesn’t make me much better. Who cares, it’s what makes me feel good!! xx
Today, I’ve had probably one of the best Sundays i’ve had in a long time. I did what Sundays are meant for…no not rest. I worked four hours in the morning and then tidied my room up, one because it needed it, two to sort my clothes out, yes, I actually threw some away!! and three to start the long process of sorting out stuff to go back to uni. Luckily a lot is already up there because I kept some stuff up there. I then had a bath, a cream tea and came over to my Grandparents.
I’m also really excited because my uncle is bringing down a free standing mirror which will go in my bedroom, i’m so excited! I’ve always wanted one.
Anyway so i’m waiting for this vintage jacket I ordered on ebay to come but with it being Sunday the lack of post made me sad so i thought I would post about the other mail I recieved this week. I love getting mail, unless its a bank statement. I muse over it for a while and feel guilty nfor the fact it feels a bit thick and then toss it.
So here’s what I recieved this week…
I got a couple of things from eBay. After hankering over a cricket jumper for ages, I now have two!! I like this one the most though.
I also got this post card from my sister.
I seem to be really looking forward to Autumn/Winter this year. I think it’s because I can’t wait to get back to Preston but also because I can’t wait to break out the coloured tights again.
I think burgundy red is going to be a big colour this season and even if it is, I don’t care because I will be wearing it!!
I can’t make my mind up over this gilet. I really like it but it’s not something I usually wear. I used to think that if you were going to wear a gilet, you have to bite the bullet and get a Jack Wills one but I like this one but I can’t decide if it’s ugly or not? Any thoughts anyone. Do you like burgundy or is it a bit dull? xx
Well no plastic hearts but paper bag shorts!! I’ve decided I’ve become very attatched to my waist (which is good because without it i’d be screwed!)
My new hat is going to have to surgically removed! I love it!! It hides my manic messy hair! xx
Do you like my watch? it was £3 from Cancer research. I really liked it and then one of the managers at work said “nice man watch” and now i’m not so keen on it.
Top: New Look
Hat: New Look
Short post, lots of photos. All my posts are short at the moment. Really because I’m working so much and i’m so tired when i come in. I’d like to say this is what I wore today but it’s not. I wore an M&S uniform but I can’t complain.
This is a hat I bought from New Look a couple of days ago. The dress is a vintage St Michael (aka M&S, how fitting!) from ebay for £1.99. I think I might shorten the hem and sleeves. I plan to turn the sleeves up and line them with white material.
It’s a bit of 70s meets 40s with the hat and the dress. Why not…xx
I’m not going to lie, I put this picture in because I think I look quite skinny in it.
So I got my little mits on a copy of the September issue of Vogue this morning. I was going upstairs for my 15 minute break and saw it there in the magazine stand. I perhpas should have waited until my 30 minute break but I couldn’t. There’s something quite funny about buying Vogue with you’re hair tied up in a ‘I need to get it off my face’ kind of way and I was in my M&S uniform.
Sat there in the staff room with my chocomilk I was having a great time reading, wishing I had sticky notes with me. Oh well, i’m working tomorrow.
So what are the key trends for this season. Well I could have told you before buying vogue but here;
* jewel colours
I think what made me happiest when reading was the article on blanket and capes. Last year I bought a red tartan cape from Henry Holland. I love it sooo much. It was one I kept seeing in the posters but could never find it and then one day, there it was in the Debenhams in Preston.
Here’s me in mine…
I think it’s quite a wintery/Christmas look. That’s the good thing about being in Preston, it gets cold enough to wrap up. In Cornwall it just gets wet. I love warpping up and what’s a better way than in a blanket cape.
Capes are still in so dust yours off from last year. If you don’t have one…errr get one, perfect for the colder months.
It’s funny what we can remember. What we got for our third birthday, losing your blanket at four, being given a massive box of costume jewellery at six and the first time I bought Look magazine.
Let me take you back to February 2007. I bought the second edition of the magazine before embarking on a shopping trip with my friends to buy clothes for a school trip to Iceland…the country.
I wonder if the 15-year-old me knew would buy hundreds more of the magazine taking inspiration in shopping aspects of my life but most importantly the career aspect of my life.
I have been a fan of all the weekly features and thought a hole was left when the features such as credit crunch chic and the features with Gok Wan came to a finish although, this hole was quickly filled with new features and when I turn the page to celebs wear high street too.
This summer I was lucky enough to be sent to Beach break live festival by the website I have contributed to student365. I had to work very hard not make the whole article about what was the top festival wears and what people were wearing but being sent somewhere to report on it made me realise that I am going to dedicate my whole life to.
I know what I want to do with my life and that is to make a living off writing. A professional blogger, my own column in the Telegraph fashion section, write for a highly successful fashion magazine. So what am I doing to make my dreams a reality? Well we all have to start somewhere and where better than DIY Week. Spending one of the best weeks and a half of my life writing about B&Q and other DIY stores tells me that I am meant for this life.
If I can enjoy writing about something I know nothing about, i would be on a permanent high if I could write about fashion shows. Now you know why I spend so much time on this blog!!
I go back to everyone has to start somewhere. My blog, I would describe as up-and-coming (if i’m being very possitive). My readership is increasing daily and when I find it making me that happy it confirms that this is what I want to do, dare I make the cliché…my dream.
I blog everyday because it is so important to me. It’s not just about the amazing opportunity to attend the Look Show but that in itself would be fantastic, its the chance to write about things I am so passionate about. Clothes, fashion and Look magazine.
Why I would be suited to it
I’m honest and I’m positive. I know that is what I look for in a blog. I want to read from someone I trust and I want to feel inspired once I’ve finished. All this I strive to do in my work. If it hasn’t been written yet, write it yourself.
Hands up who went to the vintage fair on south bank. Hands up who wanted to go to the vintage fair on south bank. That one’s me! I reallllly wanted to go but I had 15 hours to work at M&S this weekend. Earning over £100 does help lessen the sting of not going to the event that I was born to attend.
I will write a post about it soon. Posts have been few and far between lately because i’ve been working lots. I spent the first half of the summer not doing anything and now i’m flat out.
Lots of exciting things. My house at uni is ready to move into. Some of my stuff is there but i’ve not gone yet. I got a text off one of my friends saying how she was weeding the garden/ back yard but I will call it a garden and I intend to buy plants for it that no doubt will shrivel and die in the bitter prestonian winter.
So to cheer myself up and forget that I still have over a month till I can move in, I did treat myself to a new hair product and my sister was home from London for the weekend to celebrate my Mum’s birthday.
Last year on my 18th birthday I went to my hair dressers and as a finishing touch he sprinkled dust it by osis on my hair. The effect was that I managed to back comb it into a beehive much easier. He put the product on in the morning and I styled my hair around 7pm and it stayed put all night.
I’ve always made to buy it online and it’s currently on my amazon wish list but through time and being too mean i’ve never got round to buying it myself.
So i’ve kept an eye out in boots etc to see if I could ever find a product that would work or was simular and to my great delight, after over a year there is one on the market. Vo5 give me texture instant oomph powder. in its shocking pink packaging its pretty good.
it says on the packaging that the bottle has extra headroom so you can shake it up beofre use. I initially thought this was a fancy way of explaining why they didnt fill the product to the top but actually its because when you shake it the amount in the bottle increases.
I wouldn’t say it was as good as dust it but for a poor student it’s pretty good.

My hair looks a little flat there but it did have a lot of volume last night!! I’m really liking wear a pencil skirt at the moment. This one was only a cheepy from Matalan so when pay day comes next week I might treat myself to a new one.
What has everyone else done this weekend? Did you go to south bank? xx
The makeup brand which is favoured by the likes of Pixie Lott has signed Nicki Minaj to become the new face of Mac makeup in one of the companies largest campaigns.
Joining the likes of Lady Gaga, the female rapper will become the face of MAC AIDS Viva Glam Initiative. The sales from all these products will go to help fight against HIV and AIDS.
Ms Minaj will also create her own shade of lippy to as to the collection which will be available to the public in a few months.
I have never wanted to be somewhere so much in my entire life. The vintage fair on south bank next weekend. I’ve been following it on twitter for ages and I soooooo want to go.
It’s my Mum’s birthday that weekend though and I have to work otherwise i’d be there.
It actually makes me almost cry when I write there will be a big dressing up box to dress up in all desires from mod, skate, disco and so much more.
The six story building that is the Royal festival hall, celebrating its 60th birthday will be transformed into a multi-venue playground where you can learn dances, have makeovers, experience catwalks, eat and drink and shop and there are even nightclubs with even more on the actual south bank. Heaven could not possibly be sweeter.
